Philip and Sunny Glass are living in Komazawa-Daigaku, south Tokyo, where they are partnering to plant a church with Tim and Ai Williams. They have two children, Anna (1.5) and Peter (6 months).

They moved to Tokyo at the end of 2020, and since then Philip has been working for a Japanese University nearby. From January 2023 Philip is hoping to transfer to full-time ministry, initially getting trained to be more useful for the harvest field.

The need for the gospel in Japan is great. One of the things that has really struck Philip and Sunny since moving to Japan is how there are small shrines at the end of every other street corner, a place to worship a rock or piece of wood. There are so few Christians to point people to the true and living creator God, the Lord Jesus. They really want to see the gospel going out in Japan.

To this end, Philip and Sunny are seeking to be trained to be effective ministers of God’s word. Initially they will undertake intensive Japanese language study. This will be followed by a year of ministry training at St Helen’s Bishopsgate in London, and then three years of theological training back in Japan.
